The dictionary definition of agon is a contest. One of the biggest contest today is for our thoughts. This is a blog for young christians and I will be posting everything from devos, thoughts on issues in the Church, and other spiritual matters; to stuff on moives, music, photos, news clips, and the videos me and my friends make. Some things will be very much on the serious side and some will just be plain random. So keep checking in and feel free to comment and/or write in with any questions or ideas

  2. Sanctified!

Throughout our Christian walk we will go through three main steps of salvation (Regeneration, Justification, and Sanctification). Regeneration comes when you accept the free gift of salvation that the Lord has given us. Through this we come into God’s family by being born again and made adopted sons. Justification is what happens after we accept God’s gift. It is the Judicial act of God when he gives us freedom from our sin and also frees us from the eternal punishment of them. Sanctification then begins to occur. Sanctification is the growth and maturing of a Christian to become more and more like Christ. Sanctification is an on going process that continues throughout our physical lives. In essence it is us becoming less and less like the world and more and more like our Saviour Jesus Christ. Sanctification will end at our physical death or when ever we are liberated from sin by the return of Jesus Christ. So all together all of these aspects of a Christian walk work together, but each of them is a separate concept that must occur in the beginnings and refining of each and every Christian.

  6. You Step on a Crack and You Break Your Mom’s Back

As Christians we are called to be like Christ, and we should stive towards that goal everyday of our lives here on this earth. We should make the world do a double take when they look at our live and make them wonder, “What is it that makes them different?” Unfortunately one thing that has become more and more common in the Church today is people trying to be as much like the world as they possibly can while still being able to say that they are a “Christian.” They walk the line on things like what they say, what movies they watch, what music they listen to, and many other things.

Now lets look back to what my opening sentence said, “As Christians we are called to be like Christ…” Now would Christ watch what you watch? Would he listen to what you listen to? This one thing that we must keep in mind and use as our guide post for making decisions in our day to day lives. We shouldn’t be sitting on the line or leaning over it. We should be staying as far away from it as possible and setting ourselves apart. Who is more effective to bring people to Christ? A person who by all outward appearences is not even a Christian? Or someone who is a living picture of Christ working through them? It all comes back to those wristbands that were popular in the 90’s….What Would Jesus Do?

    Rom. 12:2

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

  11. Dude You Have a 2x4 in Your Eye

Our society today is becoming more and more critical. People criticize everything from what you wear to what you eat. Another downside to this is that this critical mindset has found its way into the Church. People in the Church have even gone so far that they judge on whether a person is really even a Christian.

Now it is true that our faith should be reflected by our works, but who are we to judge someone’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ? We say things like, “There is no way that someone who dresses like that can really be a Christian!” or “They smoke how could they do that and love Jesus?” Now before you go there, think about this, some people would say the same thing about you because you wear short sleeves, or because you watch PG-13 movies. But in the end, it simply comes down to what the Bible says…

    Matt. 7:4

“Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye?”

So just remember to check what you have going on in your own life and is there anything that you need to change? If so, maybe you should fix yourself before you go judging someone else.

  14. Universalism

Universalism is the belief base held by some members of the Church that basically states that everyone will be saved in the end and there is no eternal damnation for unbelievers in Hell. This can be harmful in the Church for a number of reasons. When you say that no one is going to be eternally damned to Hell then there is no reason for redemption. This then brings the assumption that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was not what brought about salvation. If everyone is already saved then were is the need for a Saviour? This leads to going right against one of the most fundamental church doctrines that Christ died on the cross for man kind to save us from eternal death in Hell. This kind of belief desensitizes us to the very essence of God’s love shown in the Bible through the gift of giving up his own son. Jesus gave us the gift of eternal life but he also gave us the choice of whether or not to take it. We must decide our fate it is not decided for us. This is the basic fundamentals of free will.
